Grading Policies for ELEC 533 / Stat 583 / CAAM 583


Grades will be made up of the following components, with approximate weights (toward final grade) as shown:

15% - Quiz
30% - Midterm Exam
30% - Final Exam
15% - Homework
10% - Attendance, class participation

Homework
There will be approximately eight homeworks between early September and late November. Homeworks and their due dates will be posted in the Lecture Schedule in a timely manner.

Late Homework Policy Homework is due at the beginning of class on the due date. You can either bring it to class or drop it in the designated wall pocket next to my office door, before class. After the due date, but before solutions are handed out, homework can be turned in for 50% credit. After solutions are handed out, 0% credit will be issued. You are encouraged to work in groups for homeworks but you will hand in your own solution individually, which you are expected to understand.

Tests The exact dates of these tests will be posted in the Lecture Schedule in a timely manner.
Quiz (15% towards the grade) Anticipated date: early October In class, 30-45 min, (open: only two hand-written pages )
Test 1 (30%) Handed out: early November. To be scheduled. Take home, 3 hours (open notes, closed books).
Test 2 (30%) Handed out: early December. To be scheduled. Take home, 4 hours (open notes, open books).
